A Blossoming Gumamela

A falling Star

Ignites from afar;

A vision unravels

A presentment foretells

A seed within the womb

In still regrets entombed

And withered by forces tragic

But still rejuvenated by the magic

Of a motherly faith retained.

In Hopeful dreams regained.

Ah,Daniella!

A blossoming gumamela,

In bloom enchanting

With freshness everlasting!

Ever so sweet,my niece

Deliverer of peace;

Amidst the darkness thrown

Your petals reflect the dawn

Price of a forbidden game

Conceived in passion’s name.

A morning star

Enlights from afar

A vision unfolds

A presentiment foretold

A Flower so beloved,

In still innocence enshrouded

A flower so beloved .

In still innocence enshrouded

Whose purity is unmarried

With a delicate skin, yet unscarred

Ah, Daniela!

A blossoming gumanela

In bloom enticing

With freshness everlasting!

Ever so sweet,my dear,

Conqueror of fear,

Through flying kisses of love,

Swifter than a flittering dove;

Fruit of a forgiven love,

An angel bestowed from above

PENN (A WARRIOR TORN)

By : Gerard Jude C. Bumanglag ,MD   Jan  2021

If a warrior were gifted a magical pen

To change this world's chaotic arena

Would one write down "Zen" Or invoke the Goddess Athena

To battle - regardless of where or when –

As cries extinguish the flame from a broken glass vitrine.

When visions alternately brighten or dampen,

Would weapons shine or get patina,

As raging emotions either fade or deepen?

No reckoning as to how eruptive or serene a Warrior whose name is Penn

If one chooses to be as gentle as a puppy over a Hyena,

Would this valiant being miss the chase out there in the open,

Even though the prey is a gazelle ever graceful as a Ballerina?

Siquijor

Siquijor

By  | 1 March 2018

Folks say they do not live there
Anymore, witches stitching
Rag figures of souls to slay,
Or warlocks brewing potions
Of bark and root three moons
Before Jesus-God lies cold
On a slab of stone.

They say they have grown weary
Of chanting the same old incantations,
Casting the same spells over loves
Lost or betrayed, claiming justice
For the helpless and oppressed,
Or setting our small worlds back
On their proper tilt and turn.

They say they have their own lives
To live, burdens to bear: fields
To till, seeds to sow, waterjars
To fill, and sons and daughters
To tend and teach mysteries
Of blood and bone, earth and sky,
Wind, water and fire.

Folks say when you first set foot
On the shores of Siquijor
That those you seek do not live
There anymore, but if you truly ache
For righteous remedy, you might linger
For a night: one might fly by
With a magic brew for you.

LOVE AND ANGER

By : Gerard Jude C. Bumanglag ,MD 2021

Love and Anger, Hold your horses,

they are no stranger As we go through courses,

like baby Jesus in the manger Up until Roman's curses,

when His life was in danger

Love and Anger, Do complement each other!

Never like a brother arguing with his sister,

Never like a ring fighter clashing with another.

Instead, they belong to one single corner,

Even though one is unique from the other,

Love and Anger, are intertwined forever and ever.

Notes : This is a  poem challenge "Love and Anger" was a 15 minute poem. the poet could have done better but choose not to

Almost Love 2021

When I saw violent Calla lilies

There's so much tenderness in my eyes

When I saw u in the digital world it lighted my life

So raise my hands to heaven and pray

A new friend came into my life

The flowers blooms and morning calm

Ending the day without you would be a savage one

The moon and sun unity in a good surprise

I enjoy your company even I did not see you in person,

When I saw your good soul appear in my memories

I felt the night you calm and I am restless

Hold me in the darkness and I feel safe

Every day I need your sweet caress

You relieve my sadness in this boring life

On the third day, I fell in love and

waiting for your call

As we move to embrace, tears run down my face

Recalling the red stick that lingers in my mind

I whisper words of love, to a person gone for the moment

I can't believe this pain, it's driving me insane

Without you in my life will be lonely

That we'll be back together someday

"REGRETS"

By : Gerard Jude C. Bumanglag ,MD  2008

If only I could turn back the hands of time,

I would've hindered the blunders of the past,

Avoided the incessant aftermath of guilt

If it were possible to mend heartbreaks,

Stop tragedies from taking place,

Settle some unfinished business from before,

Given that very power,

I would've used it without any hesitation,

But who am I to manipulate the course of nature?

We all have our shortcomings,

We all have deep-seated flaws,

We all can learn from our mistakes.

Crumbled debris of bad experiences

Are he building blocks of my temple,

Thus I try to construct a much more solid structure

Even when it's already late for forgiveness,

Know that fate or destiny can be both unforgiving, too

So if you've done wrong, just make it right next time

Regrets,

Though its minions keep on gnawing at my conscience,

But they remind me that I am indeed only human.
